Beatrice Prior lives in a boring Abnegation faction (selfless). But at the age of 16 she has a real problem- she has to choose and decide in which faction she wants to live in, but instead of one she finds herself in more factions the Chicago society is living in. Being Divergent means for her a big danger. She follows her inner voice which leads her into Dauntless, the brutal and hard faction, where she has to overcome herself and try to not become the Factionless – the man who does not belong anywhere.
The film is based on the novel by Veronica Roth.
Main characters:
An abitious girl with a power of a lion. I could easilly identify with her feelings and from the very first moment I wanted her to achieve her goal – not to fail her initials. During the movie she gets stronger, wiser, but also makes things, that will chase her for a long time.
I´d say the main character does not differ from the book so much. Tris is stubborn and courageous and these two qualities impress me the most.
Also Four, the Dauntless leader is a very interesting character. He helps Tris and together they are fighting against those, who want to harm them. Tobias Eaton is not just a crush given to the film to make the romance scenes more attractive. Well, it could be the reason as well, but also his personality is decribed and what´s more important in the movie – showed perfectly so that the watcher is more attracted to the movie.
What I liked the most were awesome costumes the actors wore. Costumers had thought of all the habits that describes the life in factions and all the colours were used wisely and it gave the movie the right atmosphere.
Scenes:
On the other hand, there were some scenes that made me confused during the movie, like simulations parts, dreams, etc. It is too hard to not to get lost in the plot if you have not read the book before. That´s why I highly recomend you to read the novel first to understand the plot. I´d say, the movie just helps you to imagine the world better.
